Summer sports camps begin this week

Elgin, Bastrop, Cedar Creek, and Smithville will all have sports camps beginning next week as athletics shift from spring to summer following graduation ceremonies.

Elgin, Bastrop, Cedar Creek, and Smithville will all have sports camps beginning next week as athletics shift from spring to summer following graduation ceremonies.

ELGIN

Two camps will be active for Elgin beginning this week as the Wildcats will have baseball camp and the Lady Wildcats have softball camp.

Both the baseball camp and softball camp will be at Elgin High School for incoming first through ninth graders. The threeday camps will be held on their respective fields on May 30 through June 1 at the same time from 8:30-10:30 a.m.

The cost of each camp is $35.00 and tickets for all Elgin sports camps this summer can be accessed online at https://sites. google.com/elginisd.net/ elgin-wildcat-athletics/ home for additional information.

BASTROP

Three camps will start this week for Bastrop as football, softball, and golf will be active to start off the summer slate of youth action.

The Bastrop Bear 1st-4th Grade Football Camp is set to go from 8-10 a.m. on May 30-June 1 at Erhard Stadium. The camp is $30.00 and registration in person will be accepted on May 30 in the form of cash or checks only. The Lady Bear 6th-9th Softball Camp will be four days and go from 9-11 a.m. on May 30June 2 at the high school softball field. Players must bring their own gloves and parents can register campers on May 30 for $40.00 if they haven’t done so yet. Contact Bastrop softball head coach Teresa Morgan via email at [email protected] with other inquiries.

Bastrop 5th-9th Boys and Girls Golf Camp will also be a four-day camp from May 30-June 2 and go from 5-7 p.m. at the ColoVista Golf Club driving range. The camp is $75.00 and registration in person will be accepted on May 30 with cash or checks. CEDAR CREEK

The Eagles and Lady Eagles will begin the first week of strength and conditioning camp for incoming seventh through 12th-grade athletes. The first of seven strength and conditioning camps (which costs $100.00 for the whole summer) will be from May 29 through June 1 this week on the Cedar Creek football field and weight room. 8-9:30 a.m. will be ninth through 12th girls, 8:30-10 a.m. will be 11th through 12th boys, 9-10:30 a.m. will be ninth through 10th boys, and 9:30-11 a.m. will be all middle school athletes. The Cedar Creek boys and girls golf camp will be held from 5-7 p.m. May 29 through June 1 this week at the Colo-Vista Golf Club driving range. The camp is $90.00 and for additional information please contact Travis Carruthers at [email protected] for more questions.

SMITHVILLE

Multiple camps will be starting this week and go from May 30-June 2 in Smithville with football, baseball, and softball action.

The Tigers will have a football camp for incoming first through fifth graders from 8-11 a.m. and it will cost $50.00 per athlete, while there will also be a baseball camp for the same grades from 5-6:30 p.m. that also costs $50.00 per camper. Advanced baseball camp, which is for incoming sixth through ninth graders, will be held from 6:30-8 p.m. and cost $20.00 per athlete.

As for the Lady Tigers, they will begin softball camp from 5-6:30 p.m. and cost $50.00 per camper. Also available will be the softball advanced camp from 6:30-8 p.m. for $20.00.
