Smithville High School varsity baseball had several players named over the weekend to the 22-4A All-District team to cap off the 2023 season for the Tigers.
The highest honor for the Tigers went to Smithville sophomore Jaxson Frazier, who was named the 22-4A District Newcomer of the Year.
Selected as first-team all-district picks was the senior tandem of catcher Tyson Hancock and utility player Cameron Dawson.
Making second-team all-district were junior outfielder Jackson Hancock, junior infielder Wyatt Gigout, and sophomore outfielder Payton Lynch.
Honorable mention all-district award winners were senior infielder Matthew Maldonado, senior infielder Cole Barina, junior utility player Kyle Pietsch, and sophomore pitcher Grayson Mullen.
Under head coach Augie Ramirez, the Tigers finished the 2023 season with an 11-16-1 overall record and finished fifth place in 4A-District 22. Smithville will look to make a return to the playoffs in 2024 with a solid core of players back on the roster.
