Strong season continues for McDade volleyball

HEARNE – The Mc-Dade High School varsity volleyball team won its ninth consecutive match on Friday, Sept. 15 as the Lady Bulldogs traveled to Hearne High School and won in three straight sets: 25-12, 25-15 and 25-20 to seal the deal over the host Lady Eagles.

HEARNE — The McDade High School varsity volleyball team won its ninth consecutive match on Friday, Sept. 15 as the Lady Bulldogs traveled to Hearne High School and won in three straight sets: 25-12, 25-15 and 25-20 to seal the deal over the host Lady Eagles.

Under head coach Aaron Hallford, the Lady Bulldogs have fought their way to an impressive 10-1 overall record and are now the ranked No. 12 team in the Texas Girls Coaches Association poll for Class 1A.

Against Hearne on Friday, McDade was led by freshman Leah Chavez as she had a whopping 11 aces to go along with four kills on the night. Lady Bulldogs junior Lauren Glosson had five kills and two aces, while senior Steffanie Zavala added six aces of her own with two kills.

McDade will have a rematch on Tuesday night at home against non-district foe Dime Box High School, the only school to defeat this team in a match this season. The Lady Bulldogs will then start district play at 3:45 p.m. this Friday at Prairie Lea High School and will have their first district home match at 7 p.m. on Sept. 26 hosting Waelder High School.
