The voter registration deadline approaches on Oct. 10, with 14 constitutional amendments set to be decided by residents of Texas.

Voters will weigh in on proposed amendments for the upcoming Nov. 7 election, with most addressing statewide concerns.

Proposit ions include a constitutional amendment protecting the right to engage in farming, horticulture and wildlife management, and several creating or altering various fund programs.

The Texas water fund and energy fund would aid with water protection finances and support the development of electric generation facilities.

The Texas university fund helps certain higher education institutions maintain their national prestige as research centers. The centennial parks conservation fund is to be used for the creation and preservation of state parks and the broadband infrastructure fund assists with internet connectivity projects.

Tax related propositions would see some exemptions for child-care facilities, changes to individual wealth or net worth taxation and an adjustment to the amount of imposed school district taxation on residence homesteads.

Other amendments increase the mandatory age of retirement for state judges, and would provide a cost-ofliving adjustment to some receiving benefits from the Teacher Retirement System of Texas.

Voter registration paper applications must be postmarked by the Oct. 10 deadline. Registration requirements and other information can be found at https://www.votetexas.gov.
