Dr. Dwight Lind passed away peacefully Sept. 22, 2023, surrounded by his family and friends. Dwight lived his life always thinking of others and according to his Christian beliefs.
Dr. Lind was born Leon Dwight Lind Nov. 27, 1935, in Austin, the oldest of three children of Leon and Dagmar Lind. Along with his brother Wayne and sister Emilie, he grew up in the Swedish farming community of Kimbro.
Dwight was on the student council and in the FFA and played football and baseball at Elgin High School. He graduated in 1953.
In his senior year in high school, Dwight met the love of his life, Nell Griffin, who predeceased him in 2022. They married June 5, 1955, and had three children-Bradley, Gregory and Beverly.
After graduating from the University of Texas at Austin and working as a pharmacist, Dwight and his family moved to Galveston where he attended the University of Texas Medical School.
Upon graduating from medical school, Dr. Lind, Nell and the children moved to Dallas, where Dr. Lind began a 40-year association with Methodist Hospital in Oak Cliff.
Dr. Lind opened his OB/ GYN practice in 1968, and had the privilege of being involved with families in Oak Cliff and Dallas and the world for the next 35 years.
Dr. Lind was a member of Kessler Park United Methodist Church in Dallas for 57 years, serving in a multitude of roles for a church community that always provided him and Nell with love. Dr. Lind was also a member of the school board at Bishop Dunne High School, where all three of his children graduated.
Dr. Lind is survived by his brother and sister, his three children, daughters in-law Tammy Lind and Christy Camp; his sonin- law Dr. Ky Burden; four grandchildren-Leon, Ryan, Elliott and Miles; a great-granddaughter, Lorraine Jae Lind; nieces, nephews, cousins and friends.
In lieu of flowers, donations can be made to the Kessler Park United Methodist Church.
A memorial service will be held Saturday, Oct. 21, at 2 p.m. at Kessler Park United Methodist Church.
