Our Father Liborio Salgado Mendoza, born Sept. 13, 1956, in Guerrero, Mexico, spread his wings Nov. 13, 2023, at the age of 67, surrounded by the love of his big family.
Liborio, son of Pompello and Francisca Mendoza, was united in marriage with Elizabeth Mendoza for 47 years. He dedicated 23 years of hard work to Elgin Butler Brick and Acme Brick, retiring from the city of Austin in 2013.
His joys were found in hunting, fishing, football, household projects and the cherished moments with his beloved family. Liborio is remembered with gratitude by St. David’s Medical Center, Texas Oncology, Austin Kidney Associates, Mueller Satellite Dialysis and Suncrest Hospice.
Liborio is now reunited with his parents and sister, Josefina.
He is survived by his devoted spouse, Elizabeth Mendoza; and their children, Liborio Jr. (Emily), Stephanie, Frances (Jesse), Lesley (Joseph), Julia (Ignacio), Jesse (Desirea), Josephine (Jesus) and Rita (Diego). Liborio also leaves behind nine brothers, Pedro Mendoza (Francisca Mendoza), Procorro Mendoza (Claudia Mendoza), Holegario Mendoza, Rafael Mendoza (Juana Mendoza) Demetrio Mendoza (Rufina Mendoza), Jesus Mendoza (Norma Mendoza), Magdaleno Mendoza (Josefina Mendoza), Pompello Mendoza Jr. (Cecilia Mendoza) and Saul Mendoza; and four sisters, Juana Rodriguez (Rigoberto Rodriguez), Erendida Mendoza (Jesus Garcia), Antelia Mendoza and Honoria Mendoza; several nieces, nephews, grandchildren and great-grandchildren.
A visitation was held from 6 to 8 p.m. Thursday, Nov. 16, at Providence- Jones Family Funeral Home, with the recitation of the Holy Rosary beginning at 7:00 PM. Celebration of Mass Christian burial was held Friday, Nov. 17, at 10 a.m. at Sacred Heart Catholic Church. Interment followed in the Elgin Latin Cemetery.
As we honor Liborio’s memory, his legacy lives on through the love he shared with family and friends. The pallbearers, Liborio Jr., Jesse, Xavier, Jesse Navejas, Joseph Trevino, Ignacio Alvarado, Jesus Ruelas and Diego Medina, carried him to his final resting place with respect and love.
