As the holiday season winds down, so too must the Christmas trees.

The city will be providing a tree recycling service for residents, Dec. 26 through Jan. 9, at the Elgin Park and Ride Lot, as it has in previous years.

Christmas trees can be brought to the western parking lot of Elgin Memorial Park, near the intersection of State Highway 95 and Main Street.

The mulch from recycled trees will be saved and used in upcoming park volunteer projects, according to the city.

Only natural trees will be taken in, and must be stripped of all ornaments, lights and tinsel can be recycled.

For more information, contact the Parks Department at 512-285-6434.
