The Elgin High School varsity softball season is underway as the Lady Wildcats have their sights set on an eventful 2024 campaign with many players back this year.
Following a tough 13-2 road loss Feb. 13 to a high-powered Liberty Hill High School squad, the Lady Wildcats looked to bounce back this week with a non-district game scheduled Feb. 20 away at New Braunfels High School.
This upcoming weekend, Elgin will compete Feb. 22-24 in the Round Rock Tournament and will also be in action beginning Feb. 29 at the Buda Hays Tournament.
The Lady Wildcats have six players returning for their senior season in 2024 with Jessica Cantrell, Gabriella King, Jaylan Roberson, Mackenzie Farris, Danielle King and Emily Sumner.
Elgin, under Head Coach Pete Moreno, finished with a 23-12 record last season and had an 11-4 record in 5A-District 23 that had them as the No. 3 seed in the playoffs.
