Insight into district’s fifth elementary school

Elgin Independent School District representatives shared what the positive trajectory of its development means for the city.

Elgin Independent School District representatives shared what the positive trajectory of its development means for the city.

Trinity Ranch Elementary, the district’s fifth developmental academy, broke ground April 1 at the Trinity Ranch master- planned community. The construction marks a significant milestone in projects funded through the voter-approved 2021 Elgin ISD Bond Referendum, according to Superintendent of Schools Jana Rueter.

“This is such an exciting moment for the Elgin community,” said Rueter. “Every student deserves access to engaging and innovative learning experiences so they will have choice and opportunity for their future. Trinity Ranch Elementary will provide a safe and nurturing environment for students to learn and grow, fostering a sense of community and collaboration.”

Planning for the new learning center has been completed and construction is underway, set for an August 2025 opening. Asphalt is scheduled to be poured soon after “some permitting issues or delays,” according to Executive Director of Operations Mike Brooks. “We’re still on track to finish everything,” he said.

“Future staff and students will benefit from the school’s overall design, which reflects Elgin ISD’s commitment to providing high-quality education for its students. We are excited to celebrate this investment in our community and our children, and to see this new facility come to life,” added Rueter.

Trinity Ranch Elementary will be located on 14 acres off of Grist Mill Lane and Upper Elgin River Road, just south of U.S. Highway 290. The new school, designed to accommodate approximately 800 students, will be built on the principles of creating a caring space, a sense of community, collaboration at the center and a connection to the outdoors, according to district representatives.

Just over $39 million was set aside in the bond issue for Trinity Ranch. The package also included funds for Harvest Ridge Elementary, which will open its doors for the 2024-25 school year in August.
