Free summer meals for youth
Children in the community can now get their calories in over the summer free of charge, without registration or identification required.
Elgin Independent School District’s Summer Meal Program kicked off June 3, bringing back its easy-to-obtain solution for local, under resourced and busy families.
The district’s Child Nutrition Services team is offering complimentary meals to children under the age of 18, or any enrolled student with disabilities up to the age of 21.
Breakfast and lunch will be provided at Elgin Elementary and Elgin Middle School through June 28. To receive meals, children must visit the cafeterias during designated service times, 7:30 to 8 a.m. for breakfast and 10:30 a.m. to 12:30 p.m. for lunch, Monday through Thursday.
Elgin ISD is not permitted to provide bundled, multi-pack, to-go or weekend meals.
The program will not be serving meals during Juneteenth, June 19.
