ELGIN – Dive into the grand finale of Parks and Recreation Month with a splash-tacular celebration at Thomas Memorial Park, July 26th from 6 to 8 p.m. This is the last chance to make a splash with water and lawn games, a dunking booth, music and visits from the North Bastrop County Fire Rescue firefighters and the Bastrop County Cares Care-A-Van crew. A cookout and snow cones from Bastrop County’s Kona Ice will accompany the event.

HOMETOWN RODEO
ELGIN – Texas Lost Pines Riding Club and Diamond Cross Rodeo return with their Hometown Rodeo July 26-27 at the Julius Marek Arena, 186 State Highway 95 S. The weekend will bring mutton bustin’, team roping, barrel racing and day slack competitions starting at 8 p.m., doors at 6:30 p.m.

BBQ PLATE FUNDRAISER
ELGIN – Enjoy some food with Jesus, The Alpha & Omega’s BBQ Plate Fundraiser Saturday, July 27, at 511 E. Sixth St. in Elgin. A $14 ticket includes pork steak, sausage, beans, potato salad and trimmings. Pick up is from 11 a.m. to 2 p.m.

HOBBS – SMITH REUNION
LEE COUNTY – William Right Hobbs and Elnor James Smith family reunion will be held Saturday, July 27, beginning mid-morning at the Lawhon Springs School Museum located on FM 619 about 3 miles from FM 696 in Lee County. Members are asked to bring a photo of their family with members identified, also a cover dish or dessert. Items furnished are meat, drinks, bread and paper goods. The museum has A/C and a handicap ramp in rear. Please come and reminisce with us.
