Two people were killed and several others injured Saturday evening at the intersection of the U.S. Highway 290 East and Texas 95 South in Elgin, according to the Elgin Police Department.

Authorities were called at 6:53 p.m. Oct. 4 to a T-bone collision that resulted in a multi-vehicle crash. The Elgin Fire Department, Acadian EMS and two medivac helicopters also responded.

Three patients were taken to Austin hospitals, where two were pronounced dead. A statement said the deceased are not believed to be Elgin residents, and their identities are being withheld until families are notified.
