A local car dealership has given thousands of dollars to help its county.

In December 2022, Lost Pines Toyota donated $10,000 to local nonprofit Bastrop County Cares. The donation was made in particular to help women under age 40 to receive mammograms, diagnostics and treatment for breast cancer.

The services will be provided through organizations such as Addressing Cancer Together, United Way for Greater Austin, Bastrop County Cares, Community Action, Inc. of Central Texas, and Pinky Promise.

Bastrop County Cares is a county-wide partnership working to develop comprehensive community initiatives by identifying community priorities, collecting and analyzing data, and bringing together collaborative partnerships that will result in community solutions. The group aims to identify large community issues that one organization cannot tackle on its own and build public will, advance policy, and mobilize and leverage funding.

Lost Pines Toyota also occasionally hosts The Big Pink Bus, which provides free and low-cost mammograms to women of central Texas. To get an appointment for the next bus stop on Jan. 28, contact Allison Bastien at 512-303-1200.

If you or someone you know is a Bastrop or Hays county resident under age 40, has a family history of early breast cancer and has a need to be screened, call 512-392-1161, extension 322, or call 211 in other counties.
