MCDADE – Students of McDade Independent School District have a plethora of scholarship opportunities, all of which have deadlines in March.
The various scholarships range in amount. Some are unique to the community and tied to a specific discipline. Others are available to scholars nationwide and based on overall academic and extracurricular success.
The Texas Rural Education Association is offering a $2,000 scholarship for graduating seniors pursuing post-secondary education or enlisting in the military. The application consists of 30 questions gauging students’ test scores, GPA, class rank, academic and career goals as well as other factors. The TREA scholarship application deadline is March 9.
McDade ISD students who are members of the Elgin Arts Association have a chance to receive one of three scholarships offered by the EAA – two for $2,000 and the Shirley Bowlin Memorial Scholarship for $2,500. Candidates must be pursuing a degree considered art or fine art to be eligible. The EAA deadline is March 22.
The Texas Association of Community Schools is offering eight different scholarships for $1,000 each. Each scholarship is in conjunction with a different sponsor. Students are able to apply for as many grants as possible as long they meet the sponsor’s criteria. Academic success, community service and a one page letter detailing the student’s career goals are part of the application process. The TACS deadline is March 17.
The Texas Farm Bureau is also providing a variety of scholarship opportunities for students, particularly those interested in agriculture or a related field. The Dick Mitchell Scholarship is worth $1,000 and will be given to a graduating senior who completed the Thrive event as part of TFB’s Student Success Series.
In addition, TFB will grant the Young Farmer & Rancher Scholarship, which is worth $1,000 and will be awarded to a graduating senior pursuing a degree in agriculture.
