HAYS – The Lady Wildcats picked up their second consecutive win in Hays this weekend.
The Elgin Lady Wildcats (11-7) dominated the McNeil Lady Mavericks (3-11) in a 14-0 victory at the Hays tournament Saturday, March 4.
Elgin got on the board in the first inning, but both teams would go scoreless in the second. The Lady Wildcats heated up in the third inning with five runs to extend the lead to 6-0. They added four more runs in the fourth and another three in the fifth inning before the game was called on the mercy rule.
Jessica Cantrell, junior, led the Lady Wildcats with two homeruns, three runs and nine RBIs. Madison Woehl, sophomore, added three RBIs on three at-bats and one hit. Jaylan Roberson, junior, and Bianca Galindo, freshman, both contributed three hits and three runs.
Elgin now sits at 11-7 on the season and were back on the field Tuesday night, March 7, when they hosted East View for their district opener.
