Lady Cats claw Cougars

PFLUGERVILLE – The Elgin Lady Wildcats (13-7, 2-0) continued their winning ways in dominating fashion last week.

On Friday, March 10, the Lady Wildcats punished the Pflugerville Connally Lady Cougars (0-8, 0-2) for Elgin's fourth consecutive win and second district victory.

The Lady Wildcats started early in the game picking up nine runs in the first inning. They added another seven in the second, and five runs in the third inning to end the game on the mercy rule.

Elgin picked up 13 hits on the game led by Jaylen Roberson, junior, who had three hits on three at-bats.

On two of those times at the plate, Roberson put the ball over the fence for home runs. Roberson also led with four runs and eight RBIs for the game.

Jessica Catrell, Madison Woehl and Bianca Galindo each added two hits. Catrell also contributed a home run and four RBIs.

Galindo and Trinity Martinez both had three runs, followed by Catrell, Woehl Aubrey Gonzales, Elizabeth Pritchett and Camryn Davis, who all had two runs.

In addition to their hitting, the Lady Wildcats had 13 stolen bases, led by Martinez and Gonzalez who both had three. Woehl, Roberson and Galindo all had two.

On the mound, Paiton Altmiller won the game giving up only two hits and picking up eight strikeouts.

The Lady Wildcats were back at home Monday, March 13, to face the Georgetown Lady Eagles.
