Tigers' blow out Titans

The Smithville Tigers traveled to Manor New Tech to play the Titans in a district match-up where the Tigers would mercy-rule the Titans.

On Friday, April 18, the Tigers would have a 14-run sixth inning to put them over the edge to take down the Titans.

Starting off the game was the Tigers leading off with a ground out followed up by a hit by a pitch that got a runner on base. After a strikeout, the Tigers began preparing to go out on defense when Cameron Dawson smacked a ball deep into the outfield for a triple.

Dawson’s triple would score a run giving the Tigers an early 1-0 lead which they would add to by scoring a run in the second inning making it a 2-0 game. In addition to opening the scoring,Dawson would also have a great game on the mound only allowing 2 hits and three runs while striking out nine batters.

Dawson and the Tigers would keep the Titans off the board allowing them to extend their lead by adding a run in the fourth and fifth inning. Now with a 4-0 lead in the bottom of the fifth, the Titans were ready to deliver the counter punch.

The Titans would score three runs in the bottom of the fifth to cut the Tigers lead to only one run. The Tigers would get out of the inning still in the lead and they were ready to put the game away.

The Tigers would go on to score 14 runs in the top of the sixth inning to establish an 18-3 lead late in the game. The Tigers would hit four singles, two doubles and three triples to help them score the 14 runs to end the game.

The Tigers now look ahead to their rivalry game where they will lock horns with the Taylor Ducks for their next district matchup on Tuesday, April 18, on the Ducks home field.
