Wildcats pick up eighth district win of the season

PFLUGERVILLE – The Elgin Wildcats sit in second place in district after picking up their eighth district win last week.

Elgin defeated the Pflugerville Panthers 6-5 on Friday April 21, to even the season series 1-1.The Wildcats dropped the first game of the series at home to the Panthers.

The Wildcats loved playing spoiler this year as the road team this season, and Friday night was no different. They were able to add a little bit of gas to the fire after dropping game one, so they came into Friday ready to set the tone and send a message.

They did just that as they got their offense going early in the game to fire up the dugout. Once the team started feeling it there was no stopping the Elgin offense.

The Panthers were ready to match the Wildcats push back attitude and took the game right back to them. The game was back and forth all night long with the Wildcats only having a slight edge.

As the intensity of the game grew the Wildcats and Panthers fans anxiously awaited to see who was going to break the game open and claim victory. The Wildcats maintained the slight edge that they had on the Panthers all game long as they poured on the runs despite the Panthers responding and their fans willing them to victory.

The Wildcats would deliver the final blow after retaking the lead late in the game and then shutting down the Panthers potent offense. As the game wrapped up the Wildcats celebrated but knew they had one more series against the Hendrickson Hawks before playoff preparation begins.

The two-game series against the Hawks will begin on Tuesday, April 25, when they travel to take on the Hawks before the rematch on Friday, April 28, on the Wildcats’ home field.
