A recent Elgin Independent School District graduate and star athlete returned to his old weightroom last week to help inspire the next generation of Wildcats.
Jordan Hood received a full ride scholarship to Southeastern Oklahoma State University after earning his high school diploma in 2021. Elgin football head coach Heath Clawson invited the defensive tackle back to speak during the team’s summer workout program where he discussed the transition to collegiate level athletics, his high school performance and what it takes to receive recognition.
During his time as a Wildcat, Hood was varsity captain, defensive line MVP, first and second team all-district selection, state power lifting champion and track and field performer. Academically, he was on the honor roll, student council, part of the National High School Honor Society and Mirabeau B. Lamar Award recipient.
