Susie was born to Thomas Adair Garland and Norma Lou (Buford) Garland Dec. 31, 1944, in Galveston.
Susie grew up in Galveston and absolutely loved the beach. She moved to Austin as an adult and worked for Texas Instruments for 23 years and then IBM for two years before retirement. Her family meant everything to her and she loved every moment she spent with them.
She was preceded in death by her parents, one brother, Mike Garland; grandkids, Marcus Slauenwhite and Norma Slauenwhite; brother-inlaw, Mike Wynn.
Susie is survived by daughter, Sandra “Sandy” Slauenwhite; two sons, Mike Slauenwhite and Dennis “Randy” Slauenwhite Jr. and his wife Heather; grandkids, Brandon Slauenwhite, Shyanne Slauenwhite, Sean Slauenwhite, Thomas Slauenwhite, Ryan Slauenwhite, Jordan Moore, Ashley Rosario, Christina Blackstock and Dominic Monroe; 10 great grandkids; sisters, Mary Wynn and Sine Marshall and her husband, Johnny; special former daughter-in-law, Suzanne Harris; and last but not least, her companion of 25 years, Jewels the bird.
A memorial service for Susie will be held at a later date.
The family requests that memorial donations be made to Disabled American Veterans (dav. org) or to the Slauenwhite family for unexpected death expenses.
