Dora Gonzales Morua
Dora Gonzales Morua
Dora was a class of 1973 Elgin Wildcat, a former employee of Farmer’s Insurance, Texas Education Agency, Elgin ISD and Bastrop County. In each of those capacities, she cultivated many lifelong friendships, she never met a stranger and always had story to tell.
She was not afraid of anyone or anything. She was a fierce and feisty Mama, who without a doubt was going do things her way.
She loved to cook and was known for her infamous pound cakes, ham balls, salads, dips and pies. Most of all she loved her faith and her family, everyone was welcome at any time, day, or night, she was always there to lend a listening ear and a prayer. There were many, many memories made with Dora on that front porch of 106 Fisher Street in Elgin, which will be secured in our hearts forever.
She was preceded in death by her parents, sister and brother-in-law, Sarah and Adam a.k.a. Pineapple Pena; brother and sisterin- law, Benito and Mary Gonzales Jr.; and great nephews, Christopher and Cody Vizcarra.
She is survived by the pride and joys of her life, Joe David Morua (Loren) and Vanessa Morua Monreal (Carlos); her precious grandchildren who made her a Gigi, Camila and Carlos Monreal and big sister Lupe (David) Santos. She was the Auntie, Aunt Doreen, Tia Doe, Great Aunt and Great-Great Aunt to her beloved 25 nieces and nephews, all of whom she loved dearly, and many close cousins and friends who held a special place in her heart.
The family would like to thank the staff of the former Elgin Medical Center now known as Well Med, Texas Oncology, Hospice Austin and family and friends for exceptional care they provided throughout the years.
“Rest well in heaven with everyone D$, you will be missed, keep a tight eye on us, please.
