Joy Cole Fromme
Joy Cole Fromme
Daughter of Mason G. and Ida Belle Cole, Joy would have been 100 years old in less than twomonths. Born April 14, 1923, she is survived by her two children, Chuck and Kim Fromme, and their spouses; three grandchildren; and six great-grandchildren. She was the devoted wife of Charlie Fromme, who passed away Feb. 9, 1994.
Joy was a native Elginite her entire life and in her remaining years, she frequently talked about her fond memories of Elgin. She brought smiles to many children through her work in the Elgin primary school and remained active in the Elgin community, e.g., food pantry, where she lived until entering assisted living.
Initially a member of the Central Christian church, Joy later joined the Presbyterian church where her husband, Charlie, and other Fromme members found their spiritual home.
Joy lived as her name implies. She brought joy to everyone who knew her. She will be greatly missed but also appreciated for the 99 years of inspiration she gave us all.
Services will be held March 1 at 2 p.m. at the First Presbyterian Church in Elgin. Graveside service and reception to follow.
