Bastrop girls soccer keeps winning

BASTROP – The Bastrop High School girls varsity soccer team has now won seven straight matches following the Lady Bears’ wins this past week over Lockhart High School and Bryan Rudder High School.

BASTROP — The Bastrop High School girls varsity soccer team has now won seven straight matches following the Lady Bears’ wins this past week over Lockhart High School and Bryan Rudder High School.

BASTROP LADY BEARS 5, LOCKHART LADY LIONS 1

The Lady Bears put on a show at home Jan. 17 as Bastrop was victorious 5-1 over the Lockhart Lady Lions. Bastrop was led by senior Olivia Altamirano as she recorded a hat trick with three goals, while fellow senior Alison Boswell had two goals of her own to go along with a pair of assists.

Senior McKayla Flores and junior Sandy Fuentes each had one assist, while Bastrop junior Lindsey McFarland made five saves in the net to help propel the Lady Bears to victory.

BASTROP LADY BEARS 5, RUDDER LADY RANGERS 0

Bastrop continued its winning ways Jan. 19 on the road and picked up a 5-0 shutout win against the Rudder Lady Rangers in a match that the Lady Bears’ defense did not allow a shot on goal. Boswell led the way on the attack with two goals, while the Lady Bears also had one goal each from Flores, Jordan Johns and Braelyn Davis. Assisting on goals were Sophia Comstock, Avery Whitcomb Juarez and Phoenix Garcia.

Now with a 7-3 overall record, the Lady Bears under Head Coach Leslie Rangel are scheduled to begin 5A-District 23 play Jan. 23 on the road at Pflugerville High School and then return home to Bastrop for a match Jan. 26 versus Pflugerville Hendrickson High School.
