The Elgin Lady Wildcats varsity volleyball team was swept 3-0 by the Georgetown Eagles on Tuesday, Oct. 15, dropping to 6-25 overall and 0-10 in district play as they continue their search for a first district win this season.
Elgin put up a fight in the first two sets but struggled to keep pace with the talented Eagles, losing both 25-11. Georgetown sealed the match with a dominant 25-2 victory in the final set.
Despite the setback, senior setter Nadia Sagastume stood out with eight digs and four assists. Junior libero Trinity Martinez cont ributed seven digs, while junior outside hitter Bella Navejas added three kills to the effort.
The Lady Wildcats are determined to finish the season strong, with two games remaining. Elgin will travel to face Pf lugerville Connally on Tuesday, Oct. 22, before hosting East View on Friday, Oct. 25. Both matches are scheduled for 6:30 p.m.
