Connie Haines, selected as the Elgin Garden Club’s Yard of the Month winner for November, with her new lawn ornament at 106 W. 10th St. The vibrant lawn uses colors to catch the eye, with cape plumbago in full bloom, Vinca, firecracker bush, Esperanza, succulents and plenty of pretty petals, the club said. The local gardeners meet on the first Tuesday of every month at the Grace Lutheran Church Fellowship Hall, 11th Street and U.S. 290, starting at 9:30 a.m. with a plant exchange._Visitors and new members are welcome.
