Celebrating the creativity of local women artisans

The holiday season will come to life early in Elgin with the return of the Winter Luna Market Dec. 6, featuring handmade goods in a sparkling, intimate setting.

From 6 to 9 p.m. at 20 N. Main St., over a dozen local women artisans will offer unique, handcrafted gifts in historic downtown Elgin.

The event is hosted by She Creates, a community of women makers, artists and entrepreneurs from Elgin and the surrounding area. She Creates fosters an environment of support, learning and inspiration, where members value community over competition and experience over expertise, according to the organizers.

The group also holds quarterly meetups to discuss creative processes, inspirations and ways to support one another.

Special guests at the Winter Luna Market include Elisha Bidwell and the Alicia Adkins Duo.

Bidwell, owner of Lonely Hunter Books, will present a curated selection of new and used literary fiction, focusing on diverse and inclusive stories. Meanwhile, Alicia Adkins and Jack Kimbrough Reid will set the mood with a mix of original songs, traditional country western tunes and holiday favorites.
