The Lady Wildcats were quickly overwhelmed Dec. 16 in a 66-17 loss to the Georgetown Eagles, marking their fourth consecutive game falling by a margin of 40 points.
Elgin struggled early, allowing 9 in the first quarter before Junior guard Sharmonique Williams got her team on the board with a layup.
Freshman forward Alasie Brown scored Elgin’s final points of the period, leaving the team down 19-4. She finished with a teamhigh eight points.
Freshman guard Amory Torres hit a 3-pointer to cut into a 23-7 deficit, but a scoring drought saw Elgin trail 34-7 at halftime.
The girls were similarly outperformed in the second half, going 32-10.
Williams added four points, while freshman Jannell Person tallied two.
Elgin fell to 4-17 overall with the loss, 0-3 in district play. The Lady Wildcats will face Pflugerville before competing in the Mumford tournament Dec. 27-28.
