New faces, positions for police

It was a day of new beginnings for the Elgin Police Department, according to city officials, as families, friends and elected leaders gathered for a formal swear-in and promotion ceremony at First Baptist Church late last month.

The department welcomed two new officers, Emmanuel Serrano and Oscar Taboada, along with four civilian employees — Animal Control Officer Brianna Gothard, Evidence and Crime Scene Technician Holly Tucker and Administrative Assistants Denise Jimenez and Catherine Regan.

In addition, 10 department members received recognition for their promotions.

Depa r tment sta f f thanked First Baptist Church for hosting the ceremony and said they look forward to seeing each new officer and promoted staff member serve the community.
