CEDAR CREEK — A property owner who quickly tired of tires on her land can worry less.

Charles Gilley and Justin Davis were arrested Jan. 2 and charged with illegal dumping of less than 1,000 pounds, a state jail felony. The suspects also had other local warrants.

“The Bastrop County Sheriff's Office takes illegal dumping seriously,” said office officials in an online statement, “and violators will be prosecuted.”

A Cedar Creek resident called the sheriff’s office after arriving to her property and finding many tires dumped on her property. The landowner then told deputies she heard two subjects were planning to return with another load of tires.

After a brief investigation, deputies reportedly caught Gilley and Davis dumping approximately 1,900 pounds of tires on the property, without the effective consent of the property owner.

“The investigation is ongoing,” said officials, “and we are coordinating with County Environmental Services and other state environmental agencies.”
