Get your fill with Bastrop Empty Bowl

BASTROP — Come have a taste of soups made by chefs, see artistic bowls and help a good cause at the 19th annual Bastrop Empty Bowl, Feb. 17, from 11 a.m. to 1:30 p.m. at the Bastrop County Emergency Food Pantry.

The Bastrop Empty Bowl event provides attendees an opportunity to sample soups, stews and chilies prepared by some of Bastrop’s best chefs in a “battle of the ladles” for bragging rights.

Celebrity judges will tag bests in each category, and attendees will vote for their fan favorite. Each ticketed attendee will also take home a ceramic soup bowl, hand-decorated and designed by Bastrop Independent School District students and members of the community.

Communities throughout the U.S. have adopted the empty bowl theme as a springboard to educating the public about poverty and to funding local efforts to identify and meet the causes head-on and to alleviate the food uncertainty of those living in undesirable situations in their communities.

This Bastrop event raises critically needed funds to meet the growing emergency and ongoing food support needs of the community.
