Sheriff’s deputies investigating death of former publisher

ELGIN — Investigators are probing the deaths of the former publisher of the Elgin Courier and her husband, according to the Bastrop County Sheriff's Office.

The bodies of Beverly, 81, and Kenneth Daughtry, 83, were found last week. The couple lived in Cedar Hills in Elgin.

According family members, the couple was well known and loved by the community.

According to the Bastrop County Sheriff’s Office, the investigation is still open and no details have been released. An autopsy is pending to determine the exact cause of deaths.

Residents have shown support for the family on social media saying, “they were the sweetest people ever.”
