A criminal fugitive wanted out of Bastrop County for sex offenses involving a child has been taken into custody, the Texas Department of Public Safety announced Tuesday.
Armando Flores Aguilar, 69, was arrested in Houston Friday, Feb. 14, by DPS Special Agents, Texas Highway Patrol Troopers and the U.S. Marshals Gulf Coast Violent Offenders Task Force. Aguilar had been sought since September 2024 on charges of aggravated sexual assault of a child and indecency with a child, earning a spot on the state’s 10 Most Wanted Criminal Illegal Immigrants list.
According to DPS, Aguilar was removed from the United States in 1999 but returned, and in May was arrested by the Bastrop County Sheriff’s Office for continuous sexual abuse of a child under 14.
He later posted bond and absconded, the department said.
With the Houston arrest now complete, a Crime Stoppers reward will be paid to the tipster who provided information leading to Aguilar’s capture, DPS added.
Funded by the Governor’s Public Safety Office, Texas Crime Stoppers offers cash rewards to anyone whose tips result in the arrest of fugitives on Texas’ 10 Most Wanted lists, including those designated as sex offenders or criminal illegal immigrants.
So far in 2025, nine individuals have been apprehended through the program, with $15,000 in rewards paid to tipsters.
DPS warns the public not to approach or attempt to apprehend fugitives on its list, as they are considered armed and dangerous.
