GEORGETOWN — The Elgin High School boys and girls varsity track and field teams competed Wednesday, April 10 at the 5A-District 23/24 area meet hosted by Georgetown East View High School. The Wildcats and Lady Wildcats had several athletes advance to the upcoming regional meet by placing fourth or higher in their respective events.
ELGIN WILDCATS 3rd - Curtis McFarlin in the 300-meter hurdles with a time of 41.54 seconds.
5th - Issac Carter, Xavier Penson, Emmanuel Asafotei and Zaire Nuells in the 4x100-meter relay with a time of 44.32 seconds. Elgin was just 0.08 seconds behind the fourth-place team from Pflugerville Connally High School.
5th - Curtis McFarlin in the 110-meter hurdles with a time of 15.08 seconds. McFarlin was just 0.07 seconds behind the fourth-place finisher Fatu Mukuba of Austin LBJ High School.
6th - Jeffery Love in the discus with a mark of 119 feet nine inches.
ELGIN LADY WILDCATS
2nd - Kailyn Cook in the long jump with a mark of 18 feet 0.25 inches.
3rd - Makayla Taylor- Bowman, Layla Whitman, Kailyn Cook and Ta’ Myra Walker in the 4x100-meter relay with a time of 50.08 seconds.
3rd - Kailyn Cook in the 100-meter dash with a time of 12.44 seconds.
Elgin track and field will next compete April 19-20 at the 5A Region 3 meet held at George Turner Stadium in Humble.
