SIP & SHOP SMITHVILLE
SMITHVILLE — Join the Smithville Area Chamber of Commerce downtown and other businesses within the downtown historic district from 5 to 8 p.m. The Chamber will sell wristbands, a souvenir wine glass and an opportunity to sample some local wines and brews, and you’ll be able to stroll through the different businesses own samplings of food and drink. You’ll also enjoy specials from participating businesses and from other local shops and vendors setup along Main Street.

FIRST SUNDAY SERVICE
BASTROP — Join Pines & Prairies Land Trust for it’s First Sunday Service Day at the Colorado River Refuge in Bastrop .Meet at the River Trailhead, 233 Riverside Drive in Bastrop, at 9 a.m. Work usually includes trimming and clearing trails. Bring loppers, a trimmer if you have one, gloves and water.
There are no restrooms or drinking water at the Colorado River Refuge so come prepared.

HERMAN FEST
BASTROP — Prepare to dance at Leon’s Country Store during the 7th annual Herman Fest, a day of music, friends and memories. The music lineup includes the Silver Wings Band, Tim Sparkman, Mark Lee, Steve Meuth and Logan Tucker. The event will be held from 2 to 9 p.m. at Leon’s General Store, Farm to Market 535 in Bastrop. DISNEY NEWSIES JR.
BASTROP—Headtothe Bastrop Opera House, 711 Spring Street in Bastrop, for Disney’s Newsies Jr., a rousing musical that has thrilled and inspired young people for generations. Disney’s Newsies JR. is a 60-minute version of the 2012 Broadway musical, based on the 1992 film. Inspired by the rousing true story of newsboys in turn-of-thecentury New York City, Newsies JR. features a Tony Award-winning score by Alan Menken and Jack Feldman and a book by Tony Award winner Harvey Fierstein.
