The electrifying adaptation of Mel Brooks’ monstrously funny film kicks off its stay at the Bastrop Opera House, 711 Spring St. Grandson of the infamous Victor Frankenstein, Frederick Frankenstein inherits his family’s estate in Transylvania. PIE WITH PASTORS ELGIN – Celebrate the 150th anniversary of the First United Methodist Church of Elgin Sept. 14 from 3 to 6 p.m. Hear former pastorsspeak about how FUMC became the first church chartered in Elgin and enjoy some homemade pie, coffee and tea. Special music throughout the day by The Thomas Family, FUMC Choir, Handbells and Praise Team. Meet new pastor Reverand Michael Bell at Sunday morning worship, 11 a.m. in the sanctuary, lunch in the fellowship hall open to all.
