The Bastrop Bears varsity volleyball team fell to the La Grange Leopards in a five-set thriller, 3-2, Sept. 10.
The loss contrasts with the Bears’ victory over La Grange earlier this season, where they won 2-0.
The match was tightly contested, with La Grange taking the first set 25-22 thanks to a kill from junior outside hitter Carley Urlich. Bastrop responded with a 28-26 win in set two, but La Grange edged ahead 25-14 in set three. The Bears fought back to win set four 25-22, only to lose the deciding set 15-13.
With the defeat, Bastrop’s record drops to 11-15 entering district play, while La Grange improves to 7-20.
