Elgin’s volleyball program faced another tough matchup against the Georgetown Eagles Sept. 20, losing in straight sets, 3-0.
This marks the fourth consecutive match that the Lady Wildcats have been swept, following losses to LBJ Austin, Hendrickson and Weiss.
Elgin struggled from the start, losing the first set 25-7 and the second set 25-6. The final bout proved to be the most competitive, but the Lady Wildcats ultimately fell 25-9.
A key issue for Elgin was their difficulty returning serves, as the Eagles recorded a staggering 55 total aces, including 23 from senior setter Issabella Casanova.
Despite the loss, some standout performances came from sophomore setter Meta Elliot and senior middle hitter Sabra Baker, both recording multiple kills.
With this defeat, Elgin’s record drops to 6-18 for the season.
The Lady Wildcats will aim to improve their standing as they head on the road to face Pflugerville, before returning home to take on Pflugerville Connally, Sept. 27 at 6:30 p.m.
