SIP, SHOP AND STROLL ELGIN — Sip, Shop and Stroll in downtown Elgin on Thursday, Oct. 10 from 5 to 8 p.m. Shops and restaurants will have extended hours as well as some in-store specials. Check out the Elgin Farmers Market, the Welcome to Elgin info booth and children’s activities. Parking will be available at the Chamber of Commerce, City Hall, Depot Museum and throughout downtown. PUMPKIN HUNT
ELGIN — Pumpkin Hunt at Evergreen Farms officially begins Saturday, Oct. 12, and will run every Saturday and Sunday throughout the month. Activities include hunting for mini pumpkins, fishing for ducks in the duck pond, zipline, pumpkin launching, corn mazes, gem mining and foam axe throwing. A concession stand is ready to serve snow cones, sausage wraps and hot dogs. Free Admission, event tickets $3.50 each, Saturdays noon to 5 p.m. and Sundays 1 to 5 p.m. Evergreen Farms, 242 Monkey Road, 512-281-4833. Fridays open from 1 to 5 p.m. for pumpkin sales only.

WAIT UNTIL DARK
BASTROP — Wait Until Dark kicks off its stay Oct. 18 at the Bastrop Opera House, 711 Spring St. Don’t let the quaint apartment of Susan and Sam Hendrix fool you; hidden within is a score for which thieves and conmen would kill. Employing disguise and deception, two newly acquainted crooks become all the more desperate and depraved, but must wait until dark to play out this classic thriller’s chilling conclusion. CHOO CHOO FEST
COUPLAND — The Coupland Civic Organization’s Choo Choo Fest returns Oct. 20 to St. Peter’s Church of Coupland, beginning at 11:15 a.m. with a barbecue lunch prepared by Coupland’s Master Chef Peter Wabbel. The Kiddie Express train will offer free rides around Coupland from noon to 2 p.m., and the Homestead Petting Zoo will make its return. Proceeds go to the restoration of Coupland’s historic caboose.
