The Smithville Tigers varsity volleyball team secured a 3-1 victory over the Navasota Rattlers Tuesday, Oct. 8, marking their fourth win in six matches as they continue to rebound from a slow start to the season.
Smithville dropped the first set 25-20 but responded with a gritty 25-20 win in the second. From there, the Tigers took control, dominating the third set 25-12 and closing out the match with a 25-19 win.
Junior outside hitter/ setter Jenna Carroll led the charge with 19 kills and three aces, while junior outside hitters Addison Otto and Briyanna Sampson contributed 11 kills and nine kills, respectively.
With the win, Smithville improved to 11-15 overall and 2-2 in district play.
The Tigers now face a tough stretch of games, starting with a road match at La Grange Tuesday, Oct. 18, at 6 p.m., followed by a home game against Giddings Friday, Oct. 18, at 5 p.m.
