Fall’s next Yard of the Month

The Elgin Garden Club has chosen the greenery at 100 E. 11th St. as October’s Yard of the Month. The residence of Neil Beyer features a lovely butterfly garden along Main Street with a variety of blooming tropical butterfly weed, Mexican sage, coral bean and canna. Inside the fence, a century- old live oak covers the yard, canvassing sea oats and plametto._Other areas of the lawn feature ornamental ginger, elephant ear, giant liriope, fig and pine trees and hibiscus. The local gardeners meet on the first Tuesday of every month at the Grace Lutheran Church Fellowship Hall, 11th Street and U.S. 290, starting at 9:30 a.m. with a plant exchange._Visitors and new members are welcome.
