Lady Wildcats fall in season opener to Lehman

The Elgin Lady Wildcats varsity basketball team opened their season with a tough 43-24 loss to the Lehman Lobos Saturday, Nov. 2.

Elgin struggled out of the gate, trailing 18-5 by the end of the first quarter. Despite their defensive efforts in the third quarter, where they held Lehman to just five points, the Lady Wildcats couldn’t close the scoring gap as the Lobos extended their lead to 30-14 heading into the final period.

Sophomore point guard Ta’Myra Walker and junior shooting guard Trinity Martinez led Elgin with eight points each.

The Lady Wildcats will aim to rebound from this season opener when they travel to face Gonzales on Tuesday, Nov. 5 at 6:30 p.m., before returning home to host Bastrop Nov. 7 at 10:15 a.m.
