BASTROP — Bastrop’s girls basketball program extended its successful streak Dec. 14 with a 67-11 win over Cedar Creek at home.
The game marked the Bears’ 12th victory in 13 games, improving to 22-2 on the season. Cedar Creek stands at 1-11 with the loss.
Bastrop came out fast, with junior guard Kenadee Lawhon hitting two straight three-pointers to give Bastrop a 9-0 lead early in the first quarter. Cedar Creek responded with three from senior guard Elisah Sanchez, but the Eagles would go cold after that. The Bears continued with a 28-0 run to extend their lead to 39-3, dominating in the second half and outscoring Cedar Creek 28-8 to close out the game.
Lawhon and freshman guard Zo'Nia Cook led Bastrop's offense, while Sanchez was the top scorer for Cedar Creek with two three-pointers.
The Bears will return to action against Navarro Friday, Dec. 20, at 6 p.m. Cedar Creek will take on Anderson at 7 p.m., the same day.
