JR. LIVESTOCK SHOW
ELGIN — Local FFA exhibitors will bring out their best for the Bastrop County Jr. Livestock Show, Jan. 10-11, at VFW Post 6115, 118 Old Sayers Road in Elgin. Doors open Friday at 4 p.m., 8 a.m. Saturday. Shows include rabbit, chicken, swine, lamb, goat and cattle, along with a live auction Jan. 11, at 5 p.m.

MUSIC IN THE MUSEUM
BASTROP — Join the Bastrop Museum & Visitor Center Jan. 18 for an evening of improvised musical magic with Honey & Harmony. The dynamic band blends blues, jazz and funk to create ballads inspired by the audience. The show begins at noon, admission is free.

MLK WALK
BASTROP — The 36th Annual Bastrop County Martin Luther King Jr. Holiday Commission Walk for Peace, Justice and Equality will begin at 10 a.m., Jan. 20, at Paul Quinn African Methodist Episcopal Church. The tour will end at the Bastrop Convention Center.

SHAKESPEARE IN LOVE
BASTROP — “Shakespeare in Love,” directed by Gretchen Westbrook, kicks off its stay at the Bastrop Opera House Jan. 24. Based on the Academy Award-winning movie, the stage play reimagines William Shakespeare’s creative process — and explores his imagination — as he writes “Romeo and Juliet.” Tickets can be found through bastropoperahouse. org.
