City seeks health advisors

Elgin residents have an oppor t u n it y to help shape local public health initiatives as part of a countywide team.

The city is calling for applications to join the Advisory Board of Health for Bastrop County, focused on providing oversight for the Public Health Department. The board will engage with underserved and marginalized communities, and advise local governments on critical and emerging health issues, according to officials.

The organization will report to the Bastrop County Judge, County Commissioners and the city councils of Elgin, Bastrop and Smithville. Playing a vital role in addressing regional health concerns, this is “a valuable opportunity for residents to contribute to the health and well-being of their communities,” city officials said.
