BASTROP — The city’s celebration of cultural exchange returns for its second year this weekend, as Bastrop TX Mardi Gras will bring Cajun traditions downtown Jan. 31-Feb. 1. The event will highlight colorful costumes, vibrant music and communal traditions with a parade, Mardi Gras Ball and Gumbo Cook-Off, alongside live performances and entertainment. Inspired by Louisiana’s “Courir de Mardi Gras,” the festivities showcase the rich heritage of Evangeline Parish with Cajun and Zydeco music, traditional foods and cultural demonstrations. The parade will begin its tour Feb. 1 at 10 a.m., visit bastroptxmardigras.com for more information. Photo courtesy of Bastrop TX Mardi Gras
