School zone times realigned

During the year’s first City Council meeting, Elgin officials unanimously agreed to adjust enforcement hours for school zone speed limits.

The changes, recommended by Elgin Independent School District staff, better align with new campus start and end times. Adjus tments ensure that the reduced-speed hours match critical travel times and schedules, prioritizing safe crossing for students and, as representatives stated, “ ju s t make bet te r sense.”

While the enforcemen t t imes ha v e changed, school zone locations, boundaries and speed limits remain the same.

Signs ref lecting the new hours are being made and will be installed in each zone.
