Wildcat powerlifters delivered a strong performance at their home invitational Saturday, Jan. 25, with standout finishes from both rosters.
Boys
Elgin’s boys finished first overall, anchored by Miguel Nunez’s dominant performance in the 181-pound weight class.
Nunez lifted a total of 1,680 lbs., named Outstanding Lifter of the meet.
Alejandro Arroyo-Palma also secured a first-place finish in the 165-pound weight class with 1,525 lbs., while Joseph Stiggers topped the 308-pounders with 1,500 lbs.
Jake Johnson and Jackson Clowdus contributed to the team’s success with second-place finishes in their respective groups.
Girls
The Lady Wildcats placed sixth overall, led by Yasmin Hernandez, who finished first in the 97-pound weight class with 520 lbs. total.
Aurelia Guerrero secured second place for the 220-pounders with 740 lbs. totaled, while Alexia Perez capped off the team’s top performances with a fifth-place finish in the 181-pound class, at 655 lbs.
Both teams will return to action Saturday, Feb. 1, at the Buda Johnson Invitational.
