Bears stay undefeated on pitch

BASTROP — The Bastrop Bears varsity boys soccer team kept its clean record intact this weekend with a single- goal win over the Chaparral Bobcats.

Sophomore Angel Chavez Hernandez netted the match’s sole goal for the Bears in a tightly contested defensive battle. Both teams traded possession for most of the game before Hernandez broke through off of an assist from junior Cayden Justice.

Hernandez now has five goals on his sheet for the season, while Justice has tallied the same number of assists.

The Bears are sitting on an impressive 8-0-2 record as they head into district play against Cedar Creek Jan. 28, before hosting Navarro Friday, Jan. 31, at 10:45 a.m.
