CEDAR CREEK — Kenji Franklin’s allaround performance lifted Cedar Creek to a 60-56 win over Liberal Arts & Science Academy Friday, Jan. 31, extending the Eagles’ district win streak to three games.
Franklin led the way with 24 points on 8-of-14 shooting, while senior forward Phineas Koplin added 16 points.
Cedar Creek overcame a slow start after LASA jumped out to a 6- 0 lead. Koplin’s f i r st- quar ter threepointer tied the game at 10, and a long-range shot from junior guard Noma r Ruv a lc ab a capped an 11-3 run that put the Eagles up 21-13.
LASA cut the deficit to 34-30 before Braydon Adams buried a three to push Cedar Creek’s lead to 37-30 in the third quarter.
The Eagles entered the fourth up 49-43, and Koplin’s back-toback threes extended the lead to 55-43. LASA responded with a 13-4 run, but a clutch block from Franklin in the final moments secured the win.
Now 18-14 overall and 7-3 in district play, Cedar Creek will host Crockett Friday, Feb. 7, at 8 p.m.
