BASTROP — The Bastrop Bears continued their perfect run last week, edging Anderson 3-1 Tuesday, Feb. 11, before grinding out a scoreless draw at Mc-Callum Friday, Feb. 14.
The varsity boys soccer roster holds 11 wins, no losses and four draws overall, sitting at 3-0-2 in district competition. The Bears stand second in the district behind the Liberal Arts and Science Academy, known as LASA, and just ahead of McCallum.
Against Anderson, senior Isaac Dugger put Bastrop on the board before halftime. The Trojans answered early in the second half, but the Bears surged back with two goals to seal the victory.
Sophomore Andres Carbajel delivered the highlight of the night, launching a shot from midfield that slipped past the Ander son goalkeeper. Fel low s ophomor e An g e l Chavez Hernandez also netted one for himself.
On Friday, Bastrop’s defense shone during a tense matchup at Mc-Callum.
Goa l ke epe r Amz i Prada kept the Knights at bay with multiple critical saves. Although neither side managed to break through, the draw preserved the Bears’ unbeaten record and marked only the second time this season they have been held without a goal.
Bastrop returns to action Friday, Feb. 21, facing Cedar Creek. Kickoff is scheduled for 7:45 p.m.
